Srinagar, Apr 26 (KNO): The national tour operators and local hoteliers of Kashmir Valley on Saturday came together to express their solidarity with the tourism sector in Kashmir, with condemnation of the Pahalgam attack, and said “Kashmir is the safest place and people should come here without any fear as it is the safest place.” The gathering was held to condemn the recent strike in Pahalgam where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed and to assure the public and tourists that Kashmir remains one of the safest destinations. As per the details collected by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), while giving a press conference in Srinagar, the national tour operators and local hoteliers, including hotelier Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, were also present. Speaking at the event, Chaya stressed the challenges the tourism industry is facing due to the strike. “There have been so far 80 percent cancellations in bookings, but this is natural and justified following such an incident. However, we remain optimistic and continue to reassure tourists about the safety and warmth of our hospitality,” Chaya said. The national tour operators, in their briefing, also said Kashmir’s reputation for hospitality is world-renowned. “Kashmir has always been known for its hospitality and peaceful environment. We condemn such strikes, which negatively impact the livelihood of local hoteliers, tour operators, and the entire tourism sector,” said a representative. Meanwhile, the tour operators further added that despite temporary disruptions, the region remains safe for visitors, and they are committed to promoting the beauty and culture of Kashmir as a top travel destination. “Safety is our top priority, and we want to send a message to the world that Kashmir is a safe, welcoming place for all,” the group of people addressing the media as per KNO said. Similarly, with the tourism sector facing unprecedented challenges, the conference was aimed to restore confidence and encourage travellers to continue visiting Kashmir, a region famous for its scenic landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality—(KNO)
